Today, we embark on our seed planting journey, embracing tradition as we prepare for the upcoming growing season. March 11th kicks off our endeavor, granting us ample time to nurture our seeds indoors before the anticipated last frost around April 11th.
I grew up surrounded by flourishing gardens tended to by my father, who had a passion for growing fruits, vegetables, and hibiscus shrubs. This season, I’ve chosen to return to basics, opting for simplicity over complexity in our seed starting methods.
Our selection of blooms for the season includes Foxgloves, Black-eyed Susans, and Shasta Daisies, each carrying the promise of vibrant life to adorn our backyard.
For convenience, we’ve opted for a pre-made seed starter mix from the local store, saving time without compromising quality.
In our pursuit of optimal conditions for germination, we experiment with two different approaches to watering the seeds, guided by past experiences and my father’s sage advice: “When in doubt, go for what you know.”
Facing challenges along the way, we swiftly address a minor setback with inadequate heating by investing in heat mats, ensuring the seeds’ comfort and promoting successful germination.
As days pass, signs of life emerge from the soil, a testament to our patience and perseverance. Though some seeds remain dormant, we remain steadfast in our commitment to nurturing our garden.
Join us as we embark on this journey of growth and renewal, celebrating the beauty of nature and the joy of gardening. Together, let’s witness the transformation of tiny seeds into flourishing plants, embracing the wonders of the natural world.
Thank you for joining us on this adventure. Until next time, may your gardens thrive and your spirits bloom with the joys of gardening.
Happy planting!
